Job Readiness Certification Program |
|
A number of consumers took advantage of Advance Housing’s Job Readiness Certification Program this past fall. The program, run in conjunction with The Career Connection Employment Resource Institute, received feedback that this was a worthwhile group experience.
Participants have learned, among other tools, how to market themselves, write a |

résumé, practice mock interviews, and how to negotiate and maximize their benefits.
An informal dinner was held at the end of November at which Certificates of Completion were awarded by Mary Rossettini, President & CEO, Advance Housing, Inc. |

The mission of the Affordable Housing Resource Center (AHRC) is to help meet the affordable housing needs of consumers living with a mental illness through direct services, education, and referrals.
The Center recognizes that people living with a mental illness often need assistance in finding affordable housing. Our team will respond to an individual’s need for housing and formulate a plan of action. Once a plan of action is mutually decided, our team will begin the housing search process.
The team members have dual roles, one providing information and the other providing a direct housing search to those that are in need. The direct housing search can include: setting up appointments to see apartments, transportation, lease signing, and any additional information that is needed to secure affordable housing. Training can include the apartment search process, Section 8 process, credit reports, interviewing with landlords, tenant responsibilities, and other various housing issues.
Six counties in Northern New Jersey are served by the Affordable Housing Resource Center: Bergen, Sussex, Morris, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic.
